UCSC Pharmacy Tour and Panel
Tuesday, March 14th, 2017
Tuesday, March 14th, 2017
UCSC’s Pre-Pharmacy Student Association (PPSA) coordinates an annual pharmacy tour and panel for their club members to be more exposed to the pharmacy field. Students had the opportunity to take a look inside the UCSC’s pharmacy with the tour guidance of Diane Lamotte, an ancillary services director and pharmacist who has worked at UCSC for twenty-three years. Diane mentioned a wide variety of information regarding pharmacy, ranging from ambulatory care to types of medications offered at the pharmacy to errors in dispensing. In addition to the pharmacy tour, there was a pharmacy panel consisting of four panelists with different experiences and encounterments with their pharmacy paths. The panelists include (pictured from left to right) Diane Lamotte, Deb Anderson (pharmacist at Sutter Health Hospital), Matt Benn (pharmacist in charge at Walgreens), and Jenifer Armstrong (pharmacist at Watsonville Pharmacy). Each panelist spoke about how they decided to become a pharmacist, their current career position, and advices for students who wish to attend pharmacy school. Thank you to Diane, Deb, Matt, Jenifer and everyone who attended our annual pharmacy tour and panel!

Sunday, April 3rd, 2016
We had a blast this past Sunday at the 10th Annual Northern California Pre- Pharmacy Symposium at UC Berkeley! There was a lot of great information provided about the diverse career paths inside pharmacy and many opportunities to meet some great people, including pharmacy professionals, pharmacy school informants, and many more. We hope everyone had a great time and thank you to all who attended.
Pharmacy Panel and Pharmacy Tour
Tuesday, March 1st, 2016
Thank you to everyone who attended the pharmacy panel
and tour! Diane Lamotte, the UCSC Student Health Center's Ancillary Services Director and Pharmacist, lead the tour and informed the club about the different aspects inside of a pharmacy. She also mentioned many interesting facts about our own UCSC ambulatory pharmacy and how it differs from others. The pharmacist panel was very compelling and provided a lot of useful information for people interested in a pharmacy career and heath care in general. The panelists (pictured from left to right: Linda Goldwyer, Diane Lamotte, Matt Benn, and Jenifer Armstrong) had a lot to say about the different types of jobs inside the pharmacy field and how they each got into pharmacy themselves. Matt is the manager at the Walgreens pharmacy in downtown Santa Cruz, Linda currently works at the pharmacy on campus with Diane, and Jenifer works at the Watsonville Pharmacy. They also had a lot of intriguing personal stories from their pharmacy careers and provided detailed descriptions of their different workplaces. It was a pleasure having Linda, Diane, Matt, and Jenifer speak to our club and we hope everyone had a great time at this club event. |
